Get Involved

Be Part of the Rae’s Safe Haven Community

Rae’s Safe Haven exists because of the compassion and dedication of people who believe in building safer, more affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals and marginalized communities.

There are many ways to get involved—whether you volunteer your time, support our work through donations, partner with us, or gain professional experience through internships. Every act of support helps strengthen the programs and community spaces we are building together.

Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of Rae’s Safe Haven. From helping at events to supporting outreach efforts, volunteers play an essential role in making our work possible.

Volunteer opportunities may include:

• Assisting with community meals
• Helping organize and run events
• Supporting outreach and donation drives
• Assisting with program setup and logistics
• Helping with fundraising initiatives

Volunteering is a great way to meet people, give back to the community, and support meaningful work.

Internship

Rae’s Safe Haven welcomes students who are interested in gaining hands-on experience supporting community programs and outreach initiatives.

Internships provide opportunities to develop practical skills while working in an affirming, community-centered environment.

Internship experiences may include:

• Community outreach and engagement
• Program development and event planning
• Resource navigation and community partnerships
• Advocacy and educational initiatives
• Nonprofit operations and program coordination

We currently have qualified professionals available to support and supervise internship experiences, including an MSW, LSW and an LPCC-S, who provide mentorship and oversight for students completing field placements or practicum hours.

Students in fields such as social work, counseling, psychology, nonprofit leadership, public health, and related disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Partner With Us

Rae’s Safe Haven welcomes partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and community leaders who share our commitment to building safer and more inclusive spaces.

Partnership opportunities may include:

• Sponsoring community events
• Supporting outreach programs
• Providing educational workshops
• Collaborating on advocacy and awareness initiatives

Working together allows us to expand our impact and reach more people who need support.
