Join Rae’s Safe Haven for an important educational lecture with author and speaker Lucas Wilson, a survivor of conversion therapy and advocate for LGBTQ+ awareness and education.
During this lecture, Wilson will explore the broader definition of conversion practices, examining the many ways these harmful efforts attempt to suppress or change queer individuals’ sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions. Despite common misconceptions that these practices are a thing of the past, they continue to affect LGBTQIA+ communities today—particularly within high-control religious environments.
Drawing from both personal experience and research, Wilson will discuss the continued prevalence of these practices across North America and beyond, as well as the lasting impact they have on individuals and communities.
This educational event offers an opportunity to learn, reflect, and deepen understanding of an issue that continues to affect many members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Date: March 30
Time: 5:00 PM – approximately 6:00 PM EST
Location: Virtual via Zoom
